Caring for Carved Candles: Storage, Handling and Burning

Beautiful carved Natural Light Candle Company treasures brings beautiful decorative detail to your home even before you light them! Caring for our luminaries begins with gentle handling, a suitable place to display it and the instructions supplied with your particular size & design. These simple habits help you enjoy both the design and the candlelight. Move your wax works of art only when unlit and completely cool.

Mini 2" Pillar Candles - Burn for 1 - 2 hours at a time.

When the liquid wax reaches the edge of the candle, the wax becomes soft. Continuous burning of your mini pillar at this point could result in liquid wax running down the side. So be sure to blow out your candle before this happens & always ensure your candle is placed on a heat proof plate with a lip to catch wax.

For the first burn, allow enough burning time for the melted wax to reach within 1cm of the edge - usually about 1.5 hours. (Continuous short burning times will cause the candle to tunnel resulting in a drowned wick & wasted wax.) For subsequent use, burn for 2 - 4 hours at a time.

Choose a suitable display and storage position

Keep candles away from direct sunlight and heat sources such as heaters or hot windowsills. Choose a stable place where they will not be knocked over, and follow any storage guidance supplied with your candle. Protect the carved surface from objects that could scrape or dent it.

When storing a candle between occasions, keep it cool, dry and protected from dust. Avoid placing heavy items on top of it.

Keep cleaning gentle

If dust collects in a delicate area, simply use a soft makeup brush to dust your candle.  Never scrub the carving, soak the candle or use household cleaning sprays, solvents or abrasive products.

Never clean or handle a candle while it is burning or while the wax is warm. Allow it to cool completely first.

Burn according to the style

Place your candle on a suitable heat-resistant holder or tray on a level surface. Keep it away from draughts, children, pets and flammable materials. Follow its wick-care instructions, maximum burn-session length and stopping point, rather than applying one rule to every size.

A decorative or recessed pillar should not automatically be treated like a jar candle. Never leave a burning candle unattended.

Is yours a candle or a lantern?

Our everlasting lanterns are unscented, reusable tealight holders, and can be used with a suitable scented tealight of your choice if you wish. The flame comes from a separate tealight, not a wick in the decorative outer wall. Replace the tealight when needed and follow the lantern's own care instructions.

Explore Damask, Cherry Blossom, Chrysanthemum, Palm and Twine candles, and keep the care instructions for your selected style handy.
